FCM AREI journey

As the national voice of Canada’s local governments, FCM has both opportunities and responsibilities to drive change. Since 2020, FCM has been on an internal and external journey committed to challenging racism, systems, policies and practices to correct inequities and improve the lives of Canadians across the country.

As such, the AREI Standing Committee of the FCM Board was formed in 2021 to lead FCM toward becoming an anti-racist organization. As part of this journey, FCM continues to re-examine how its culture, governance, internal needs, mandate, vision and commitment align with being a leading anti-racist, equitable and inclusive organization.

Reflective of the recently developed anti-racist and equity commitment, FCM is dedicated to delivering resources, tools and support to help municipalities drive impact in these areas.

This hub provides best practices, success stories and a multitude of resources to support municipalities across Canada in their anti-racism, equity, inclusion and Reconciliation work. Whether you are in the early or advanced stages of your journey, we hope the hub provides inspiration, perspective, guidance and support. We commend you for being here and welcome you to the FCM Anti-Racism, Equity, Inclusion and Reconciliation Hub.
