FCM is launching a renewed FCM Awards of Excellence to recognize and celebrate excellence in municipal leadership and practice, both in Canada and abroad.

Award categories celebrate a variety of champions, including exceptional leaders, as well as individuals and municipalities that are involved in international municipal cooperation. We are seeking nominations from across the country to help us celebrate excellence within our FCM community.

Please click on each category below to read the criteria and see if someone you know is eligible to apply. If you wish to submit a nomination, please fill out our submission form. Deadline to submit a nomination is April 7, 2026.

Below, you will also find the FCM Sustainable Communities Awards, delivered by the Green Municipal Fund (GMF), on the same webpage. Nominations for this program will open at a later date. We encourage you to explore the award information now and return for updates as nomination details become available.

Award for Excellence in Municipal Leadership

The Award for Excellence in Municipal Leadership recognizes an established municipal leader demonstrating integrity, vision, collaboration, and a strong record of delivering meaningful results for residents.

Emerging Municipal Leader

The Emerging Municipal Leader award highlights an early-career municipal professional who is already making a strong and meaningful contribution to their community. It celebrates someone who brings fresh ideas, curiosity, and a commitment to public service, and who shows clear potential to become a future leader in the municipal sector.

Ann MacLean Equity and Impact Award

The Ann MacLean Equity and Impact Award celebrates a leader whose work has made a significant and lasting impact within the municipal sector.
