Joe Masi knows the challenges municipalities face. He has a track record of overcoming them and the insight required to take advantage of new opportunities.

Drawing on a wealth of experience as the former Executive Director of the Association of Manitoba Municipalities (AMM) for close to 20 years, Joe was instrumental in the development and implementation of many policies and programs that helped municipalities in Manitoba.

In October 2022, Joe was elected to Council in the City of Portage la Prairie, and currently serves as Chair of Finance. Joe then ran for the FCM Board in May 2023 and was elected as one of the Directors from Manitoba.

Joe was appointed by the FCM President to Chair the FCM Elections Readiness Working Group, a testament to his experience and knowledge regarding municipal issues throughout Canada, as well as his experience in being a strong advocate for municipalities.

During his term as Director on the FCM Board, Joe was instrumental in advocating for a new Municipal Infrastructure Program and several other issues important to municipalities in Manitoba.

Joe wants to continue to bring a strong, passionate and experienced voice to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) on behalf of all Manitoba municipalities, as he did as the Executive Director of AMM. As well, Joe believes that not only is it important to advocate effectively at the national level, but it is also important to have the knowledge and experience to make sure programs and policies developed at the national level be designed so that municipalities in Manitoba can take advantage of them and make sense in Manitoba.

By re-electing Joe Masi to the FCM Board of Directors from Manitoba, municipalities will have a strong, passionate and experienced voice working for municipalities in Manitoba.
