OTTAWA, ON - The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) announces this year's recipients of the FCM International Awards of Excellence in celebration of International Development Week (IDW).

Through these awards, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities recognizes Canadian municipal experts, both staff and elected officials, who have made an outstanding contribution to FCM's international programs.

"On behalf of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, and its members across Canada, I extend to you my most heartfelt thanks for your contribution to building inclusive and resilient communities around the world," said Brad Woodside, Mayor of Fredericton and FCM president.

Each year, more than 30 municipal experts from across Canada travel abroad to share their expertise with their counterparts in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America. These partnerships promote economic development, gender equity and advance the myriad of opportunities that flow from effective governance.

Through funding provided by Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD), FCM connects Canadian municipalities with local governments around the world to help build more resilient and inclusive communities. The following ten Canadian municipal experts received a plaque recognizing their contribution to FCM's international programs:
