Jordan Municipal Support Project
Supporting municipalities in Jordan hosting Syrian refugees
About the project
Jordan’s municipal institutions and services face extraordinary pressure as approximately 1.4 million displaced Syrians are being housed in its cities, towns and villages. The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) has launched a $20.7-million five-year initiative, funded by Global Affairs Canada, that will mobilize Canadian municipal leaders and practitioners to provide peer-to-peer technical assistance to elected officials and municipal staff working in communities in central and southern Jordan.
Our Focus:
- strengthening leadership and administrative capacity
- enhancing solid waste management through new technologies and citizen engagement
- sharing knowledge, good practices and lessons learned to benefit municipalities throughout the country.
