Each year, FCM members participate in a democratic process to elect representatives to our Board of Directors. This normally happens in June at our annual general meeting (AGM), during our annual conference. The conference is cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we will hold virtual elections and a virtual AGM instead.

Members will vote for Table Officers and Directors prior to the October 15 virtual AGM and will be invited to ratify the election winners at the AGM.

Key voting milestones

Voter registration, August 24–September 18
Register to vote in FCM’s elections and AGM.

Table Officer election, September 28-30
Vote remotely (online or by phone) to elect FCM’s President as well as the First, Second and Third Vice-President.

Director elections, October 5-7
Vote remotely (online or by phone) to elect Directors who represent your province on the Board. The Territories and New Brunswick do not participate in the Director elections. Their provincial and territorial associations of municipalities (PTAs) appoint representatives whose names are put forward for ratification at the AGM.

Annual General Meeting, October 15
Voters are invited to ratify the election winners and appointees during the virtual AGM. Those without a reliable internet connection may vote ahead of time (online or by phone). The results will be available live during the AGM.

We look forward to offering you an innovative, engaging and accessible election process.
