Streetlight Renewal

The Town of Cobourg’s Streetlight Renewal project began in 2008 with a review of new street lighting technologies. Induction lighting was identified as the best technology and aligned with the town’s objectives to help the Ontario Power Authority with an electricity supply gap (24,000 megawatts by 2025), reduce GHG emissions related to electricity generation, update aging lighting infrastructure, reduce annual streetlight operating costs, provide better lighting within the community, and reduce light pollution with dark-sky compliant lighting.
