    Head Start for Young Women responded to the intersecting barriers experienced by young women when it came to participation in local government.

    This program worked to engage young Canadian women (ages 18 - 28) interested in becoming leaders and decision-makers in municipal government. The Protégé program was based on shadowing and mentoring with an elected official.

    The Affordability and Choice Today (ACT) initiative was created in 1990 to help overcome planning and building regulatory barriers to the development of affordable housing by funding and promoting practical solutions at the local level.
  • Enviro-Fleets

    Enviro-Fleets

    Through its Enviro-Fleets pilot project, FCM helped municipal fleet managers reduce GHG and criteria air contaminant emissions associated with the operation of heavy duty diesel fleet vehicles. Supported by Environment Canada, the pilot concluded in March 2011.
