The City of Regina, Sask., puts $350,000 in GMF funding toward the creation of an Official Community Plan - a policy framework to guide the city's development and growth for the next 25 years.

Berry Vrbanovic, president of FCM and councillor for the City of Kitchener, Ontario, today announced a new chair and five new members of the GMF Council. All new Council members will begin their terms on January 31, 2012.

RIRPTL is the intermunicipal board responsible for the restoration and preservation of the Lac des Trois-Lacs. The RIRPTL will use the $350,000 in funding to test a remediation measure that will use hydraulic dredging to slow aquatic plant growth in the Lac des Trois-Lacs.

The town put the $4.4 million in funding toward a LEED-certified expansion of its recreation centre, to meet the growing community's recreational and cultural needs

The town put the $1,057,542 in funding toward an upgrade of its 30-year-old wastewater treatment plant.

The grant of $59,603 will be put toward the creation of a strategic plan for sustainable development for the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro.

The city has put the $110,000 in funding toward the development of a second strategic action plan for sustainable development.

Berry Vrbanovic, president of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) and councillor for the City of Kitchener, Ont., and Peter Braid, Member of Parliament for Kitchener-Waterloo, announced a Green Municipal Fund^TM (GMF) grant to the City of Waterloo. The city will use the $63,695 grant to conduct a feasibility study to test how innovative wind turbine technologies could be integrated into its electricity system.

Green Municipal Fund™ (GMF) grant contribution to the City of Parksville, British Columbia. Parksville will put the $81,400 in funding toward updating its Official Community Plan.

The city invested the $4 million towards the expansion of its Centrepointe Theatre facility, with a two-storey addition constructed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver performance standards for newbuildings.

Green Municipal Fund^TM (GMF) loan and grant contributions for the City of Wetaskiwin. The city put the $910,000 in funding toward improvements to the reliability, performance and capacity of Wetaskiwin's wastewater treatment facility.  

A Green Municipal Fund ^TM (GMF) grant of $68,094 to The Regional Municipality of York. York Region has used the funds to identify and evaluate process energy efficiency opportunities at selected water and wastewater facilities.

The City put the $261,250 in funding towards the Plan Beauharnois 20/20, an action plan for sustainable environmental and land-use planning development.
