Save the questionnaire to your computer, and then open it in Adobe Reader.

Project Scorecard

We encourage all applicants for capital projects to use the new Project Scorecard to give you a clear idea of what we are looking for in a strong application.

Energy, transportation, waste and water capital projects

Effective December 1, we have adopted a new competitive selection process for capital projects in the energy, transportation, waste and water sectors. Only the best projects will be approved. This new process is designed to enable us to continue accepting new applications year-round and to ensure that the best projects are approved regardless of when the application is submitted.

Independent peer reviewers use the Project Scorecard to assess your project. Using the same ratings yourself to score your own project will help you build a better application.

We recommend that you use this tool before you take the time to prepare an application to ensure that you have a strong project, and as you complete the application form to make sure that your application and supporting documents effectively address each of the items that will be evaluated.

Brownfield capital projects

If you are applying for a capital project in the brownfields sector, you can also use the Project Scorecard to help build a stronger application. Like applications for projects in other sectors, your application will be scored by independent peer reviewers using the ratings below. However, your application will not be compared to other applications in a competitive selection process.

Application Form

Download the updated GMF Application Form (V.1.1.6).

Save the form to your computer, and then open it in Adobe Reader.

The GMF Application Form will be updated from time to time to continuously improve the usability of the form and to resolve any identified technical issues. Before you complete the application form, please ensure you have the most recent version.

About the form

The form includes auto-calculation functions, a suite of mandatory and optional environmental indicators to help you assess the environmental benefit of your initiative, and help text including sample responses to guide you along the way.

You will need Adobe Reader 8.1 or greater to complete the GMF Application Form. Unfortunately, the form will not work with Adobe Acrobat Professional.

Save the GMF Application Form to your computer, and then open the form in Adobe Reader.

Using the form for the first time

When you first open the GMF Application Form, a few steps are required to establish communication with the server:

  1. A Security Warning will appear that reads "Acrobat is attempting to connect to:
https://www.fcm.ca. If you trust this site, choose Allow. If you do not trust this site, choose Block."

Please click the box that says "Remember my action for this site" and then click the Allow button
  2. A yellow bar will appear at the top of the form that reads "Some features may be disabled to avoid potential security risks. Only enable these features if you trust the document".

An Options menu will appear at the end of the bar. Please click the Options menu and select "Trust this document always."
  3. The form will then reload, and is ready to use.

What to expect

The questions in the GMF Application Form are dynamically populated, meaning that new questions are generated as you respond to earlier questions. If you would like to see all of the application questions at once, you can create a blank form for any type of application.

The GMF Application Form includes five parts:

Part 1 - Introduction: You will be asked to present information about your organization and initiative and be made aware of documents required to assess your eligibility.

Part 2 - Purpose and Sustainability Impacts: You will be asked to provide information on the reasons your organization is undertaking this initiative, your proposed approach to carrying it out, and the environmental, economic and social benefits you are aiming to achieve.

Part 3 - Innovation and Knowledge Sharing: You will have the opportunity to highlight innovative aspects of your initiative, describe how it will go beyond business-as-usual, and outline how your initiative and its outcomes can be valuable to other communities.

Part 4 - Project Management: You will be requested to describe your project team, workplan, budget, and sources of funding.

Part 5 - Declaration: You will be asked to acknowledge and agree to a declaration attesting to the accuracy of the information you provided before submitting your Application Form.
