NIAGARA REGION, ON - The following statement was released today by Claude Dauphin, outgoing President of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), following today's speech by Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada at FCM´s annual conference:
"Canada's municipal leaders were pleased to welcome Ms. May to our Annual Conference and AGM.
We share Ms. May's vision that our cities and communities need to ensure more federal fiscal capacity for investing in Canada's infrastructure. We need it to grow and innovate, and address challenges as a result of climate change.
We also salute Ms. May's long-held commitment to FCM's work on the ground to reduce greenhouse gases through programs like the Partners for Climate Protection Program.
FCM looks forward to continuing to work with Ms. May and the Green Party. As she mentioned in her speech, working together is the most important thing we can do for our hometowns and is truly what differentiates our country."
