Webinar: Tackling Waste Diversion Challenges

Part 1 in FCM’s new Leading Trends in Municipal Sustainability webinar series

Thursday, October 18, 2012

12:00-1:30 p.m. EDT

Session summary

For most Canadian municipalities, waste diversion is nothing new. Municipal composting programs are becoming the norm, while recycling programs have been around for nearly 20 years. However, even with years of experience under their belts, many municipalities still struggle with challenges such as encouraging backyard composting, engaging the private sector in waste diversion, and implementing three-stream diversion programs in institutions, public spaces and multi-residential buildings. Speakers from three of Canada's leading municipal waste diversion programs will discuss how they tackled these challenges, share the keys to their success and the lessons learned.
