Webinar - Indian Act 101
Thursday, October 1, 2015
The Indian Act has existed since 1867 and addresses everything from birth to death for First Nation people. Among other things, the legislation establishes the reserve system and stipulates the financial and governance authorities of First Nation governments. Understanding the history of the Indian Act—what it covers and what it does not—as well as the various rights and obligations of First Nations governments operating under this legislation is essential for municipal authorities looking to improve relations with First Nation neighbours.
