Webinar: Toronto's Exhibition Place Municipal Innovation in Action
Part 3 of GMF's new Innovation Webinar Series
Thursday, December 8, 2011
Major redevelopment projects offer key opportunities for municipalities to work toward their sustainability goals. Find out how the City of Toronto took advantage of its plans for Exhibition Place — a multi-use complex of conference centres, sporting facilities, restaurants, nightclubs and parkland - to work toward the goals of its Climate Change, Clean Air and Sustainable Energy Action Plan.
Guided by a site-level environmental plan, the development included energy retrofits, new renewable energy infrastructure and the construction of energy-efficient buildings, including Canada's first conference centre to target LEED® Silver certification.
Speakers will highlight the project's innovative features and environmental benefits as well as the challenges and opportunities encountered along the way. Presenters will also describe the factors that led to the integration of sustainability and environmental innovation into the project.
- Dianne Young, Chief Executive Officer, Exhibition Place
