Thank you for the opportunity to seek election to the FCM Board of Directors to represent Newfoundland and Labrador.
I have been Mayor of the Town of Paradise since September 2013 after serving as Councillor for eight years.
As Mayor of the Town of Paradise, I take pride that the Town is a participating member of FCM. The Town of Paradise represented Newfoundland and Labrador during the last term with FCM and Council saw firsthand the great value in participating in the discussions and initiatives set forth by the Federation. In turn, we took great pride in sharing these initiatives with the province.
The Town of Paradise has also volunteered to take part in the PLEDDG program where the Town will share best practices with partnered municipalities in the Ukraine.
Prior to being elected as Mayor, I also volunteered as a member of the Paradise Elementary School Council, Elizabeth Park Elementary School Council, Paradise Youth Soccer Association Executive, the Parks Development Committee, the Finance Committee, the Peter Barry Duff Commission and also held the position of Chair of Recreation and Leisure Services, among others.
Currently, I am Chair of the Communications and Economic Development Committees for Council.
With your support, I look forward to meeting and discussing the many challenges and successes each individual municipality faces and being a catalyst to ensure ideas and knowledge are learned and shared.
